VCAAP, effective November 12, 2020 will be providing eligible Vermont households and businesses with a grant to pay for past-due balances. Residential households and non-residential account holders who have suffered an economic hardship due to loss of income precipitated by COVID-19 may apply for assistance. Residential applicants may only apply for a grant for their primary residence. This program will run through December 15, 2020 and applicants will be on a first come first serve basis.
If you are supplied water and/or wastewater through Champlain Water District’s Colchester Town / Malletts Bay Water Company, Colchester Fire District #1, or South Burlington Water Department you may be eligible for this grant.
Applicants must also attest to economic hardship caused by the pandemic among other attestations that are designed to ensure the integrity of the application. Hardships include unemployment, layoff, reduced work hours, health (had COVID or cared for someone with COVID) and can’t work because no childcare is available, or school was closed.
Customers may receive 100% of eligible outstanding arrearages that are more than 60 days overdue since March 1, 2020. Applicants may apply for utility arrearage assistance on a single application.
Before you apply:
• Have a copy of the most recent bill(s) handy because you'll need to know the account number, service address and the account holder's name
